7-Step Solar Process

If you have questions on any of the vocabulary, please reference our Solar Vocabulary page.

Step 1
SITE SURVEY

Photos and measurements are taken of the roof, electrical equipment, and attic. The purpose of a site survey is to gather as much data to be able come up with a comprehensive system design.

The surveyor may provide you with a rough system design for you to approve. At this moment, please address any concerns you may have in terms of aesthetics or any future projects.

This usually takes 2-3 hours.
Step 2
DESIGN AND ENGINEERING

When all the data from the site survey is gathered, we will submit the proposal to engineering to create plans. During this time, all documents are signed to begin the submitting process.

This usually takes 5-7 days.
Step 3
PLAN SUBMITTAL

Once the plans are completed, they are submitted to the local jurisdiction for review. If there are corrections we may have to begin the process again once the corrections are made.

This usually takes 3-6 weeks.
SYSTEM INSTALLATION

Once the local jurisdiction has approved the plans, we will receive permission from the city or county to begin work.

This usually takes 1-3 days.
Step 5
SITE INSPECTION

Once the system has been installed, we can schedule the next available inspection. If there are corrections, we may have to schedule a service. After the service has been concluded we will schedule a follow up inspection.

This usually takes 1-3 days.
Step 6
UTILITY INTER-CONNECTION

Once the city inspector has conducted his inspection and deemed it operable, we submit all remaining documents to the utility company for review. Once the application has been verified, we will receive PTO (Permission to Operate) and we can energize the system, which can oftentimes be done remotely.

This usually takes 3-6 weeks.
Step 7
FINAL PACKAGE

After your system is successfully installed and energized, we will send out a final package. This package will include the city permit, inspection card, building plan, installation photos, and equipment spec sheets (including warranty information for your solar equipment)
